The HealthMedia® leadership team is comprised of seasoned professionals from the fields of software, technology, health care, communications, and business management. This leadership team is complemented by an experienced staff of health professionals including physicians, psychologists, epidemiologists, and clinicians.
Dr. Strecher is a renowned speaker, researcher, and author in the field of health behavior change. The founder of HealthMedia® and its chief science officer, Dr. Strecher is a professor of health behavior and education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health where he founded the Center for Health Communications Research and directs the Health Media Research Lab. Since 1995, Dr. Strecher has also served as associate director at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Before coming to Michigan, Dr. Strecher served in a variety of positions at the University of North Carolina. He was associate professor in the Department of Health Education and Health Behavior from 1990 to 1995 and also the director of the Health Communications Research Laboratory at the School of Public Health from 1992 to 1995. Dr. Strecher was an assistant professor in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education from 1984 to 1990 and a research associate for the Health Services Research Center from 1985 to 1995. From 1983 to 1984, he was an assistant professor at Temple University's Department of Health Education. Dr. Strecher holds a bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University and a master's in public health and Ph.D. in health behavior and health education from the University of Michigan.
John is responsible for all aspects of the company's financial management, planning, control, accounting, reporting and contract administration. Prior to joining HealthMedia® in April 2004, John served as CFO for various technology companies and has a successful track record in managing startup companies to financial stability and profitability. He also spent 12 years in public accounting with Coopers & Lybrand and Arthur Andersen. John holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.
As Vice President, Global Sales & Customer Engagement, Mary is responsible for revenue growth and customer retention at HealthMedia®. She has over 24 years of health care industry experience, and has a proven ability to identify and address business needs through the development and execution of strategies focused on revenue growth, contract retention, and productivity improvements. Prior to joining HealthMedia® in May 2009 she served as Vice President of Sales at LifeWorks, part of the Ceridian Corporation. She also served as Director, Optum Account Services-Customer Operations at UnitedHealth Group for seven years. Mary holds a BA in social work from Marquette University and an MSW in social work from Loyola University of Chicago.
Dave is responsible for intellectual property, compliance, affiliate and corporate relations, and related management functions. He is a member of the Executive Management Team. Dave has over 30 years of experience in financial management, investor relations, contracts administration, government contracting, business development, and operations management. Dave has been with HealthMedia® since its inception and has held various roles, including the company's Chief Financial Officer and Operations VP. Dave has an MBA and M.S. (water resources management) degree from the University of Michigan, and a B.S. from the University of Rochester.
John leads the team of executives responsible for providing HealthMedia® Specialty Solutions to pharmaceutical organizations, managed care firms and medical device manufacturers. John has over 25 years of sales, sales management, consulting services and operations management experience in the area of software applications and solutions. Previously, John served as Vice President of North American Direct Sales for HealthMedia, Inc. John holds a bachelor's degree in human resource management from Spring Arbor College.
Mary Jo is responsible for alliance management, product strategy, new contract business analysis, industry and competitive analysis, and industry consultants. She has 25 years of experience in implementing and leading innovative teams in the development of computer-based and web-based applications and products for various industries including health care, education, design and engineering, and manufacturing. Mary Jo has a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Eastern Michigan University.
Benjamin C. Wiegand, Vice President, Science and Innovation, Wellness & Prevention, Inc., is responsible for leading the development and direction of science-based research and innovation at HealthMedia® and other Wellness & Prevention companies. In this role, he leads the HealthMedia® Behavioral Science team in providing critical science-based direction to all HealthMedia® product offerings, as well as clinical research to support current and future HealthMedia® products. Ben has worked in this field for almost 10 years and holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois, and both a M.A. and Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Harvard University.
Kevin is responsible for ensuring the quality of HealthMedia® products and services. In this role, Kevin leads the HealthMedia® software quality assurance and technical support teams. He has more than 25 years of experience as a leader of large-scale information technology and project management organizations in several industries, including health care, manufacturing, information technology and publishing. In addition to leading organizations for Fortune 100 companies, Kevin also co-founded and served as COO for an internet start-up company. Kevin earned a bachelor of science in computer and information sciences from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Caren joined HealthMedia® through the acquisition of MySelfHelp.com. Caren has 25 years of experience in marketing, corporate communications, and business development. She was Vice President of MySelfHelp.com, where she was responsible for marketing, communications, sales support, business development, public relations, advertising, customer relations, and program development. Prior to that, she spent seven years as Principal of CommSource, Inc. and 10 years at Data General Corporation in marketing and corporate communications positions. Caren earned a bachelor's degree from Assumption College and a master's degree in Communications Management from Simmons College.
Dr. Bedrosian is a clinical psychologist with over 32 years experience treating depression, addictions, anxiety disorders, and the aftereffects of childhood trauma or abuse. Dr. Bedrosian was fortunate to have been personally trained and supervised by Dr. Aaron T. Beck, a world-renowned psychiatrist who is known as the "Father of Cognitive Therapy". He is also the author of numerous publications focused on depression, suicide, family dynamics, and related problems, including the 1994 volume, "Treating Family of Origin Problems: A Cognitive Approach". A pioneer in developing Digital Health Coaching programs, Dr. Bedrosian was the founder of MySelfHelp.com, which was acquired by HealthMedia® in 2006. He was awarded seven grants from the NIH to develop Digital Health Coaching programs addressing mental health problems, including depression and binge eating disorder. He received his B.A. in psychology from Brown University, his M.A. in psychology from Assumption College, and his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Miami University. Dr. Bedrosian is also an Associate in Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
As senior medical consultant for HealthMedia®, Dr. Greenhut is responsible for the medical integrity of all HealthMedia® programs and conducts background searches on all medically-related topics. She is board-certified in public health and general preventive medicine and has been a fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine since 1987. From 1991 to 1999, Dr. Greenhut entered a private practice in preventive and behavioral medicine. She received an A.B. cum laude from the University of Michigan and her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Greenhut also received a Master’s in Public Health from The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of (Hygiene and) Public Health. Janet is the co-author of The Wholeness Handbook: Care of Body, Mind, and Spirit for Optimal Health.
Dr. Schwartz leads internal and external research projects and studies, develops proposals, provides scientific guidance to program development staff, and sets the company's scientific and product development agenda. He also holds a position as an adjunct research investigator with the University of Michigan Healthcare System. Most recently, he was the director of research at the Oakwood Healthcare System and was an adjunct lecturer for the University of Michigan-Dearborn Department of Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Schwartz received his bachelor of arts in general psychology from Wayne State University, an M.A. in experimental psychology from the College of William and Mary, and a Ph.D. in clinical/health psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Wildenhaus is a clinical psychologist specializing in health behavior change and practical, effective health intervention programs. At HealthMedia®, he leads the Behavioral Science and Data Analytics Group. He has been the principal investigator on a Robert Wood Johnson grant looking at internet based self-management plans for weight control, goal setting and nutrition. He has given hundreds of lectures, presentations and workshops on health-related topics. He completed his doctorate from Wayne State University, with a major in clinical psychology and a minor in industrial & organizational psychology. In addition, Dr. Wildenhaus also serves as the team psychologist for the 2009 Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
