Capital BlueCross Adds New Digital Health Coaching Programs to Expand Support to Its Members

Ann Arbor, MICH. – April 25, 2012 – Wellness & Prevention, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, has expanded its relationship with Capital BlueCross by offering four additional Digital Health Coaching programs to its members.

The addition of programs for diabetes, back care, binge eating, and physical activity brings the total number of programs from the Wellness & Prevention suite of HealthMedia Digital Health Coaching solutions available to help Capital BlueCross members to 14. Capital BlueCross also offers programs for weight loss, smoking cessation, depression, stress, nutrition, insomnia, chronic pain management, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and chronic condition management.

Capital BlueCross has provided Wellness & Prevention Digital Health Coaching programs to its members since 2008. As part of the process, participating members are asked to complete a health risk assessment questionnaire, which in turn generates a wellness action plan that targets their most important health needs. Members are then connected to one or more programs to help them improve their health.

Digital Health Coaching combines advanced technology with strong behavioral science to aid individuals in better managing their own health. The programs are designed to emulate a live health coaching session and are highly personalized, tailored to the unique needs of participants, scalable to a population of any size, available 24/7, confidential, and cost-effective to deliver. This approach leverages multi-disciplinary clinical expertise and evidence-based behavioral change models to create personalized tools and resources to help each participant achieve specific health goals.
