HealthMedia BALANCE®

HealthMedia BALANCE® is unlike any other weight loss program in the market today. It addresses three critical elements of successful weight loss and maintenance: mind (psychological, emotional, and behavioral patterns), body (physical activity patterns), and food (nutritional habits). This three-pronged methodology is significantly more comprehensive than traditional weight management interventions and support programs.

Utilizing the mind, body, and food foundation, HealthMedia BALANCE® emulates a health coaching session, without the coach, to deliver an individually personalized weight loss and maintenance plan that addresses each participant’s unique needs—taking into account the individual’s motivation, confidence, needs, and barriers to change. The program also assesses and addresses obesity-related co-morbidities and co-behavioral issues such as stress, heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, depression, and diabetes.

Proven Clinical Results

Kaiser Permanente conducted a one year randomized control trial using HealthMedia BALANCE® vs. other non-personalized Web solutions. Results showed that HealthMedia BALANCE® participants used 1.1 fewer outpatient visits than the control group, lost 2 times more weight, and had higher plan satisfaction. As a result, Kaiser Permanente and HealthMedia® solutions were jointly recognized with the prestigious C. Everett Koop National Health Award: Honorable Mention in 2004 for HealthMedia BALANCE®.
